Joe was wonderful father and husband who was active in his community and respected in his profession. His wife, Marcia Gerstacker Anselmo is a Shaker '62 grad. I have great memories of Joe.
The photo below is of Bobby (the Bobby ) Dery and Joe. Both are great losses.
Joe was a great accountant and business consultant. I remember that he died (or a heart problem) doing what he loved - riding his bike around Mayfield Village.
I HAVE BEEN VERY LUCKY IN MY LIFE TO HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH 3 BEST FRIENDS. KEN HEGYES, BILLY FADEL(ISAAC) AND THE LATE JOE ANSELMO. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DIDN'T GET TO KNOW JOE YOU MISSED AN OPPORTUNITY TO MEET A VERY SPECIAL PERSON. JOE LEFT US ALL TOO SOON BUT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. A GOOD HUSBAND, A GREAT FATHER AND A VERY SPECIAL GRANDFATHER. I MISS YOU BROTHER. LOVE YA.
Joe and I had a special relationship at Moreland. We were in the same class from the first day of kindergarten until Woodbury Junior High. We found out early in our school days that we were born on the same day. We celebrated all of our birthdays together for seven years. Our mothers were friends and would alternate parties for us. Joe's mother was a great cook and we looked forward to her creations both at school and home. Joe as I remember was a terrific person. He was always happy, concerned, and friendly. Joe's brother, Frank, recently contacted me. He is in the process of gathering information to write a book about the "old neighborhood". If you have any information, photos, or memories, let him know. His email is: francis20anselmo@gmail.com
Joe's wife, Marcia, wrote reagarding Joe's family:
I am retired from education, Joe Jr. is Deputy Managing Editor and Sr. Business Editor for Aviation Week magazine/group. Denise is a speech/language pathologist in W. Geauga Schools. Joe's granddaughter, Ronnie, 19, recently acquired a small tattoo with Joe's initials. She still misses him so. Todd, 21, is a junior at Youngstown State. Thanks again. Keep in touch. MARCIA
